Great recipe! My tweaks: I add 1 teaspoon baking powder and the salt to the almond flour, then use a pastry cutter to cut the butter into the flour/salt/baking soda mixture until it resembles sand/the butter bits are smaller than pea sized. Then add cheese and wet ingredients. I find the biscuits bake up fluffier.
Ok, this the best low carb recipe for biscuits or bread of any kind, I have ever made!!! These are better than the Cheddar Bay biscuits at Red Lobster!!!! I altered the recipe a bit. I omitted the bacon and used a combination of Parmesan, Swiss and Cheddar cheese. I also didn’t have any heavy whipping cream, so I used coconut cream and added garlic powder. These were so amazing I had to restrain myself from eating the whole batch at once!
I like this recipe. I separate the eggs and whips the whites to make a lighter version, closer to a muffin.
I’ve also baked it in loaf format to slice and toast.
My son thinks they taste more like cookie than biscuits, so I made cookies out of them. First try I added 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1/2 cup of Apriva sweetener and cut out the bacon. He loved them. I made 12, flattened them a little and cut cooking time to 25 min on my oven down 5 minutes.
Second “cookie“ recipe, I skipped butter and bacon and added The 1/2 cup sweetener and 1/4 cup peanut butter. I think I could have used 1/2. I made 16 cookies complete with fork lines. Didn’t last a day.
Thank you for this recipe.
Did you skip the cheese as well?
Y’ALL!!!!! This is the one. I’ve tried out so many recipes I found on Pinterest and would end up disappointed and sad that I wasted all that precious almond flour (aka money). As many other reviewers suggested, I did add 1 tsp of baking powder because I was really wanting something as close to the regular flour biscuits as possible and I didn’t want to not put it in and be disappointed. I am glad I did because they came out absolutely perfect. I also did use the author’s suggestion of bacon bits. Oscar Mayer actually has some uncured real bacon bits at my Walmart that worked perfectly here. The only other thing I did different was the size. I used a small cookie scoop so I got 24 mini biscuits out of this recipe and this did cut my baking time down to about 20 minutes or so. Next time around, I may also use less table salt as mine were a bit salty. All in all, I am so super thankful for this recipe as I now can end my search for keto biscuits!
Delish! Added finely chopped jalepenos and green onions!!!
I made it but added 1 tsp baking powder. Also added jalapeños.
I cook these in a muffin tin. I also add baking powder to make it lighter and closer to a muffin
How much baking powder Sam?
Absolutely wonderful! I did not add bacon this time. I used sharp cheddar and 2 Tbs of parmesan. After they came out of the oven brushed with garlic butter. Oh my!
Great recipe and tips as well. Turned out perfect, family really loved it .
As suggest by some, I did add a tsp of baking pwd and whisked the egg whites before adding. As well as added-all the dry ingredients first and then the wet ones. Used Parma, smoked cheese and jalapeño.
I just made these today. OMG are they delicious! I felt like I had to be cheating. I used a combo of cheddar and asiago cheese. Great combo. I also put in a extra slice of bacon since it would have left just one slice in the packaged and that just didn’t seem right lol. I see myself making these often!
These are terrific. After reading many reviews, I did add the 1 tsp of baking powder. I used unsalted butter for the dough and even cut the salt to 1/2 tsp. They still turned out plenty flavorful. I used what cheese I happened to have, which was cheddar, pepper jack and shaved Parmesan. I also beat the eggs first before adding them to the mix. The use of small chunks of butter plus the larger shaved Parmesan I think contributed to a light on the inside and crisp and light brown on the outside biscuit. This is definitely a winner. Excellent!
I have made these three times in the last couple of weeks. We love them and I have not changed a thing. Great recipe! Especially like these for serving with soup and chili, but we also like them as a breakfast grab and go.
I added green olives instead of bacon. Also plain Greek yogurt instead of heavy cream. Absolutely delicious!
They tasted great but I think I would add the baking powder so they might rise next time.
These taste like the cheddar bay biscuits at Red Lobster – delicious! Mine came out a little salty (maybe from the cheese I used?) so I’ll reduce the additional salt next time. Also, they spread out quite a bit so in the future I’ll pay more attention to the spacing. These were a hit! 3 year old approved!
These are really, really good! I mean I used bobs redmill flour and I don’t see how there could be more carbs in this brand than in others? I mean almonds are almonds I thought? But at any rate they’re great! One fills you up and the taste is just like a biscuit. I’ll make em again.
That’s what I thought too, but I have seen a discrepancy on Bob’s Red Mill almond flour and I have no idea if it’s actually the case or a misprint of their nutrition label. Glad you enjoyed these biscuits!
Yes, I agree perhaps there was a discrepancy. But at any rate they are great and next time I’ll try TJ almond flour.
I think I commented in the wrong spot the first time but can I substitute full fat coconut milk for heavy cream?
Made these this morning and they are wonderful. Will try putting baking powder in and omitting the salt next time. Might add some sautéed onion.

Anyone use airfryer to bake these
I finally found a keto biscuit recipe that is sooo good! I’m not doing keto but have to keep carbs in check and not spike my glucose because I’m a type 2 diabetic. The only changes I made was to sift the flour and then spread warm garlic butter on top right out if the oven. Next time I will try ham or sausage.
I just made these exactly as the recipe and my husband loved them! The closet thing we’ve had to regular biscuits in a long time! I’ll be making these again for sure, and next time I’ll try some of the suggestions in the comments below.
Wonderful recipe to accompany soups. Wouldn’t change a thing!
These are fantastic! Followed the recipe exactly. Wonderful warm out of the oven with butter, or with a fried egg and cheese. My husband loved them with ham, mustard and Swiss cheese. Very versatile. I haven’t tried reheating them yet, but we like them cold! Thanks so much for sharing.
I am ADDICTED to these biscuits. I keep theme constantly, I CANNOT run out of them. I love them made exactly by your recipe , I just don’t use any bacon. I just got back from the grocery store as I had run out of almond flour. So, excuse me but I’ve got to make a batch of biscuits. Thanks for the great recipe!
