About this policy

This policy explains how Savory Tooth uses information associated with visits to www.savorytooth.com, including comments and ratings. For privacy questions or requests, email julia@savorytooth.com.

Comments, ratings, and votes

When you submit a comment, we collect the name, email address, comment text, and any rating you provide. Approved comments can display your chosen name, text, posting date, replies, and rating. Email addresses and technical identifiers are not part of the public comment display. Please do not include sensitive personal information in your comment text.

We use these records to moderate and display discussions, maintain ratings and helpfulness votes, respond to inquiries, and prevent duplicate submissions and abuse. The comment service does not send newsletters or automatic reply notifications.

Historical comments imported from a previous version of this site included private records such as email addresses, IP addresses, browser information, and vote identifiers. These records are kept separate from public comments. The current commenting system does not save raw visitor IP addresses with new comment records; IP addresses are processed for security checks and by our hosting and verification providers.

Hosting, security, and cookies

Cloudflare hosts the site and commenting system. Comment data and recovery backups are stored in Cloudflare services, with separate restricted recovery copies maintained for Savory Tooth. Authorized people administering the site and backups may access those records for operation and recovery.

When you use commenting or voting features, the site uses a browser cookie containing a signed, random identifier to associate requests and help prevent repeated ratings or votes. The cookie can remain for up to 365 days unless removed or expired earlier. Clearing it may affect recognition of your previous activity.

We use Cloudflare Turnstile to help distinguish human visitors from automated abuse. Cloudflare processes technical signals, including IP address and browser information, for this service. Read the Turnstile Privacy Addendum and Cloudflare Privacy Policy for details.

Advertising

Advertising privacy controls may vary by location. Use the privacy-preferences or opt-out links provided with the advertising integration to review available choices. These choices are separate from requests about comments or other records held by Savory Tooth.

Some links are affiliate links. If you follow them, the destination or affiliate provider may use cookies or other tracking to attribute purchases and commissions. Their privacy policies apply to their services.

We do not maintain an active newsletter mailing list. Historical newsletter records may remain in restricted archives from the previous site; they are not used to send newsletters. Contact us with questions about those records.

Retention and privacy requests

We retain comments and related administrative records to operate the site, maintain its commenting history, address abuse, and handle requests. Recovery backups may contain earlier copies. Removing a record from the active site does not instantly remove every backup copy.

You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information held by Savory Tooth. Tell us enough to locate the relevant record without sending unnecessary sensitive information. We may need to verify a request and retain some information for security, recordkeeping, or legal reasons. Available rights and exceptions depend on the applicable law.

Children and sensitive information

Please do not submit sensitive personal information. The site does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has supplied personal information, contact us so we can review it and take appropriate action.
